November News

Hi Gents,

The month began with xc, and how great it was to see so many of you out for the 1st one, New member Ryan Day followed up his excellent 10 at Bromley with 37th place, only just pipped by another solid run from Dave Wright, Our other scorers included 2 more new names to the scoresheet ,  Matt Laverack and Paul Davidson, Mark Jasper,  Ben Ficken and coach Michael made up the rest of our scoring, but more importantly  it was the excellent turnout, which I hope many of you guys can keep up for the season as it will be tough this year to hold on to our place in pool A, Dave and myself will be missing at Harwich so numbers won’t be as high for that one, and will be a great chance for others to score.

I don’t normally say much with regards to parkrun, but I would like to congratulate Ben Ficken on another successful parkrun takeover and to Paul Hollidge and Scott Young on reaching the magic 100. Well done to Ryan on winning the Clacton event recently and Rob Thorpe on achieving  a Bronze standard at the same course. Parkrun has also seen the long awaited return to running of Craig Warriner, I do hope this is finally the end of his personal injury nightmare.

Frank Gardiner ran a 12 minute improvement at the Stebbing 10 and certainly showed me where all the improvements he has made to his running this year, when he held himself in the plank position for over 7 minutes in our recent challenge on Wednesdays PT session, which I must say is proving to be an overwhelming success and certainly provides some hard working variety to our sessions.

Both Paul Davison and Matthew Jones achieved new PB’s at the tough Hadleigh 10, with Paul timing to perfection a silver standard with 4 seconds to spare. Luke Groves ran yet another PB in Southwold, Ryan Day also ran a PB at Chelmsford, with some solid back up from Lee Clarkson, not quite 6 in a row, but still his 2nd best 10k .Also good to see John Bush back in action.

He started the month scoring for us at his 1st cross country and ended the month with a terrific silver standard at the Hadleigh 10, since joining in the summer he has achieved standards at 5k and 10k and collected the 5 mile club champs award for his effort at Wix, really enjoying his running and a very welcome addition to the club, congratulations to
