Main 5 Mile race

The Friday 5 Series is a popular series of 6 open races each of approximately 5 miles in length, all held during the summer on Friday evenings. These races are always family friendly and are a great way to spend a summer’s evening. Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams at each race, and also for the series as a whole (based on a points system).

The 2024 GBRC Friday 5 will be held on Friday 5th July and will start and finish at
Great Bentley Village Hall, Hall View Rd, Great Bentley, Colchester CO7 8LW
Please note there is no participant parking at the Village Hall. However, there is ample parking near the Village Green which will be clearly signposted and marshalled.
Runners please be aware there will be a road closure for the junior race at 18:40 for up to 20 minutes. The closure will take place on Weeley Road. This could effect your access to the main car park. So please try and plan your journey accordingly.

Start time – 19:30 hrs

Entry fees
£14 – members of UKA affiliated athletics club
£16 – non-members of UKA affiliated athletics club
The Race Limit is 500

Closing date for the race and any change of details, race numbers or change of runner will be determined by Races Online.

Due to the nature of the course we are not allowing any music devices to be worn during the race including bone conduction headphones

All participants take part at their own risk. Any participant unsure of their physical ability to take part in the event should seek medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the event

If the race is cancelled for any reason which is deemed not to be the fault of Great Bentley Running Club it will not be possible for any entry costs be refunded.
We are unable to give any refunds; self-service transfers are available.

Junior run

Start: 18:40 hrs (Prompt start required for logistical reasons)
Entry fee: £5
We offer 2 junior races which will start together at 6.40pm
School year’s 4 and below – 1 km
School year’s 5 and above – 2 km
All off road – one road is crossed for 2km race but road will be closed.
Held on Great Bentley Village Green (close to parking area)
Cost £5.00 for both races
Entry must be made online, which will be available until 18:20 on Friday (card payment). When entering you will be emailed your race number. Please bring this email to the number collection on the Village Green (not the village hall).
Phone signal on the Green is very limited and we highly recommend entering, and noting your race number, before making your way to the Green.
Please allow yourself plenty of time to collect your race number before the start of the race
Adults wishing to run with their young child are free of charge
