Short, sweet but perfectly formed

This weekend saw the majority of the Blue vests turning out at the Chelmsford Cross Country at Writtle more of which will be in the XC report so the race report is short, sweet but perfectly formed! So when most of us thought that cross country provided ample mud Luke Groves went over to Wolverhampton to do the Tough Guy 2017 which is a 15k obstacle course that seemed to excel in one thing……mud! Groves crawled, climbed and ran to the finish in 3 hours and 49 minutes.  tough-guy-groves

Also taking off on Sunday was Matt Jones who was seeking and obtaining a new 10 mile personal best at Freethorpe near Norwich; Jones sped round the 10 mile circular route in 1:11:34.

Saturday saw the usual Parkruns taking place with the Bentley Blue doing a Parkrun takeover at Mersea. Our runners were Charlie Keitch 23:29, Lee Clarkson 25:43, James McCullagh 27:47, Caroline Searle 30:06, Megan Hughes who was running her first 5k Parkrun 34:18, Geraldine Springett 34:28 and Linzi Iddon 45:44.  Thanks to Linzi for organising the takeover which seemed to be well received by all down at Mersea and may well have attracted a few new members.

Over at Colchester we had 4 runners this week Craig Warriner (18:57), Richard Moor (19:53), Malcolm Jarvis (21:19) and Paul Hollidge aiming for top 100 finish in which he ended up disappointed that he didn’t finish 1 place better; finishing 51st in 22:48.  Clacton Parkrun again saw the largest contingent of Blue with Kevin James leading the way in 23:37 followed by Patrick Reynolds (23:38), Jack Wicks (26:04), Louise Upston (28:27) Luke and Meatball Groves (30:01), Davina Swindell (30:14), Claire Groves (30:17), Alison Clarke (30:57), Claire Reynolds (31:27) and Sandra James 42:28.  Finally for the 5k Parkrunners was Harwich which saw Cherie Hipkin (27:49) and John Bush (31:04) complete the run along the promenade.
