Winter racing continues.

Our Parkrun regulars turned out once again on Saturday to run a rather slippery race in Colchester’s Castle Park. Claire Groves ran a new PB in 25:18, edging closer to a bronze standard. Other Parkrunners were Lee Clarkson 22:43, Chusa Bautista Fructuoso 25:10, Scott Young 26:09, Claudia Keitch 26:12, and Martin Owen 26:13.

Charlie Keitch and Ben Ficken took part in the South of England Cross Country Championships at Stanmer Park, Brighton on Saturday 24th January. The course was very hilly, climbing a total of 1479 feet over the race, but plenty of downhill to balance out the ascents. Keitch, suffering from cramp over the final lap of the 15k course finished in 1:11:45, while Ficken clocked 1:08:15.

Luke Groves ran the Wales Winter Trail Half Marathon, staged at the base of Snowdon on Sunday 25th January. This race was very hard going, 71 DNFs out of 400 runners. Groves ran home in 3 hrs 30m. .

The Hadleigh Legacy 10k also took place on Sunday, and John Bush finished in 1:21:05. This event is held mainly on the Olympic mountain biking course, and is extremely muddy and hilly, with obstacles and boulders thrown in for good measure.
