MUD, MUD AND MORE MUD…PLUS A FEW SMALL HILLS

As the title suggests, the main event on this weeks race calendar was the Grizzly. This is a challenging 20 mile race along the beautiful Devon coast. It’s packed full of mud, hills, amazing scenery and somewhat challenging terrain. Definitely one for your running bucket list. There is also a 9 mile cub version. As always we fielded an impressive turnout across both races. David Allen, Kathy, Rob Blackman, Paul and Sarah D, Ryan and Donny D, Rob Dyer, Dave Jones, Charlie, Vicky P all took on the full 20 mile route, completing this tough course in some pretty impressive times.

For the cub, we were represented by Madison, Caroline T, Vicky and Barbara L, Harry, Emma W, Mark H and Donna H who deserves a special mention for going back for seconds after swearing she’d never do it again in 2020.

Mags took on the Cambridge Half Marathon and earned herself another PB, completing the well organised course in 1:41:30. You never fail to amaze me Mrs K! I’m also going to take this opportunity to say what a great ladies captain you’ve been, always supporting and inspiring us to do better.

Closer to home, Lou and David Balfour did the Chelmsford 10K. David finished in 51:11 and Lou earned herself a new PB in 56:11 and 3 stars to boot. Great running guys!

On Saturday we were pretty busy parkrunning at a variety of locations – full details here https://www.parkrun.com/results/consolidatedclub/?clubNum=1475. A few highlights were Scott celebrated his 250th parkrun at Colchester Castle. 250!!!! Charlie completed his 37th different parkrun at St Mary’s and Wixy continues to improve with an unrecorded course best of 24:48 at Colchester castle. Great work!

Whilst I’m not sure if it belongs in a race report, I don’t particularly care and want to give Emma Wakeling a special mention for just being super. She’s getting fitter and faster and inspires us all with her determination and courage.

That’s all for this week folks. Thanks for giving me lots to write about 🙂
