In our weekly round up of parkrun activity we had 47 Bentley blues running on Saturday. Danny Draper made it round Colchester Castle parkrun in a personal best of 19:52, well done Danny!
Paul Hollidge was running his 200th parkrun, completing it at Highwoods, that is 620ish miles of free running fun! Or like running from Colchester to Ullapool by road (yes, I did google map that!)
Justine Sheekey was first lady home at Highwoods parkrun with a time of 22:29, even if she missed the advice of not running in road shoes. Route B still offers a lot of trail running!
A mention for Poppy Welham who improved on her first 5km parkrun at Clacton with a time of 49:20, well done Poppy, keep up the good work!
Rodger Ferguson ran Colchester junior parkrun in 15:38.
This weekend the weather was sunny but fresh and many of you experienced these conditions, both in Surrey and South Essex.
Benfleet 15 has a reputation, and this year was no exception, with some extremely muddy sections as well as the notorious final hill. It was the 30th anniversary of this race, which starts and finishes at Hadleigh Country Park.
The results are as follows: Charlie Keitch 1:54:44; Paul Davison 2:00:44; John Booty 2:01:01; Paul Connell 2:04:45; Sarah Davison 2:18:08 (PB); Magadalena Komorowska 2:22:40; Tricia Stacey 2:33:33; Mark Harris 2:42:42; Toni Wilson 2:43:01 (winner of age category); Leoni Harvey 2:45:30; David Jones 2:46:17; Anna Young 2:47:20; Frank Gardiner 2:49:16; Deborah Hollidge 2:53:49; Paul Hollidge 2:53:49; Helene Tyler 3:22:27; Emma Welham 3:24:19; Teresa Jones 3:39:31; Barbara Law 3:43:13 and Zoe Reynolds in 4:06:44. Well done to you all, some great times
Meanwhile, over in Surrey, we had a troop of walkers and runners continuing their plight to complete the Chairman’s long distance challenge. The Winter Tanners was run by Surrey LDWA and there were two distances to choose from, 20 or 30 miles. There was a mixture of walkers and runners amongst you and the route looked very undulating, as well as crisp and sunny!
