Running as smooth as a pint of Guinness

Mags Komorowska and Tomasz Komorowski have been visiting the fair isle for the weekend to take in the Dublin rock and roll half marathon.  After running together for 10 miles Mags made a break for the line and went on to finish in 1:52:34 with Tom breaking the tape at 1:54:12.  The previous day not wanting to miss the chance to do some parkrun tourism the pair ran the Tolka Valley course in 22:59 (and the first lady finisher for Mags) and 24:10 respectively, all done whilst resplendent in the mayors “bling”!

Sunday also saw the daytime running of the Aliens v’s trail runners trail race which saw Neil Robins & Emma Lovett-Welham successfully navigating the 13.1 miles.  Gary Hill also ran the daytime course this year after doing the night trail last year to complete the set and his medal.

The week started early for Vicky Presland and Debs Cubberley who ventured out in Essex to run the “Chipping Away 5” on Wednesday.  this was race 1 of the Essex Trail events that take place in late summer, the night was still hot but there was nice scenery to see the ladies around the course finishing 4th and 5th in 54 minutes.  Further races  in this series may well be in the offing for the pair.

Colchester Parkrun had a unique finish this week with all the runners completing the course together….well not quite, with both stopwatches failing the organisers posted a finish time of 59:59 for everyone taking part this week.  So well done to Meera Rajoo-Oakley, Russell Clarke, James McCullugh, Chusa Batis and Anthea Colsell for their part in the dead heat!

Other than our Polish Dubliners, parkrun tourism was offered by the Preslands this week – well it was at Maldon, Milly finishing in 20:21, Vicky in 21:03 and Phil; who is firmly on the comeback trail posted 24:03.  Harwich is the place to go for a PB it would seem with both Claire Poole (27:52) and Teresa Jones (30:39) securing their best 5k runs; Teresa’s sub 30 minute target is getting tantalisingly close!  Also toeing the line at Harwich were Ben Ficken and Janice (20:37), Kevin James (22:39), Emily Zethraeus (23:09), Toni Wilson (25:14), Leoni Harvey (28:29), Dave Jones (29:28) and Sandra James (37:19).

Over at the other prom in Clacton on a revised course which included quite a few uphill sections saw Ray Baggs being the first blue vest home in 20:04) followed by Scott Young (24:00), Beverley Shortley (26:28) and Alison Clarke (31:24).

Sunday also saw a PB and this was at junior parkrun in Colchester for Laci Wakeling who has been running really well recently she finished in 11:57 followed by Daniel Blacker who also got a PB in 13:43 and her sister Brody Wakeling (14:20).  Over at Clacton Harrison Leek ran 8:12 followed by Angel Jasper (10:26) and sister Yasmin Leek (13:49).

Great running everyone!
