Ladies Newsletter – February

Hello Ladies,

First of all a great big ‘THANKS’ to all of you helped at our Half Marathon in whatever capacity. It is only with the support of all club members that we can host such a successful event. Also well done to those of you who, having done their stint, then went out and ran in the challenging windy conditions – you’d all get a prize if it was down to me!!

The Cross Country season has now come to and end (Shame! I hear you all cry..) but what a season it’s been with a sea of blue turning out at every fixture.  Despite the wettest winter on record, the rain again held off for the last race with 16 ladies and 3 junior ‘babes’ taking part. Well done for 3rdplace on the day and 4th place overall for the season. The juniors also did well finishing in 7th place with special mention to Katie for finishing 2nd in her age group and 3rd overall for the season. Well done Katie!

At the end of October I sent out an e-mail hoping to encourage you to take part in the Cross Country races and you’ve done the club proud. I received a reply from one young lady as follows –

I am going to give it a go, what is the worst that can happen hey!!

What happened was that she steadily improved her position in each race that she did. That lady is Anna Mills who is my Runner of the Month for February. Well done Anna!

I will be stepping down as Ladies’ Vice Captain at the AGM so this is my final report. Jo and I have really enjoyed our time as Captain and Vice Captain and it’s a real pleasure to be part of this fantastic club.
