The weather was perfect for the second race in the 53-12 cross country league on Sunday 1st December. Hosted by Harwich Runners, this very muddy and slippery course saw a total of 272 runners take part. Great Bentley men finished in 4th place, and the ladies team in 3rd, with the club lying in 2nd place overall for the race, and in 3rd position in the league.
The Blue Vests had a good turnout of 43 runners in total. Scorers for the men were Chris Warren (17th), Simon Dale (21st), Ben Ficken (27th), Clive Thomas (30th), Michael Simmons (31st), Dave Goldsmith (36th), Russ Sharp (45th), and Kevin Stevens (50th). The ladies team scorers were Vicky Presland (7th), Emily Zethraeus (8th), Sophie Apps (15th) and Anna Lyon (18th).
Other runners were Jo McKay, Sue Sorrell, Karen Skene, Lesley Fuller, Lex Carlisle, Theresa Bishop, Barbara Law, Davina Swindell, Tricia Stacey, Claire Reynolds, Marion Simmons, Sandra James, Lynsey Apps, Lorna Sharp, Rebecca Cook, Anna Mills, Paul Carlisle, Graham Semple, Frank Gardiner, Sam King, Mark Ross, Shawn Leek, John Booty, Jamier Neill, Patrick Reynolds, Scott Crawley, Tom Fowler, Malcolm Jarvis, Des Bishop, Mark Crittenden and Andy Fuller.
Five children ran the junior race, they were Katie Presland, who was 2nd in her age group in 31st place overall, Harrison Leek, 56th, Kieron Dale, who unfortunately lost both his shoes to the mud, 59th, Hallie Booty 75th and Amie Apps 84th.
