Stebbing Remembrance Day 10

Rising junior star Harrison Leek, 7, ran his first parkrun at Colchester Castle Park on Saturday 9th November, paced by his dad Shawn Leek. Harrison completed the 5k course in just 30 minutes and 39 seconds.

A large contingent of Blue Vests turned out for the Stebbing Remembrance Day 10 mile race on Sunday, which was also the final in the Essex Grand Prix.  Series. Bentley ladies team took 2nd place, both in the race and the grand prix series.  Barbara Law (1:36) got a gold series medal in her age group and Clive Thomas (1:02:19 PB) got a gold series medal in his age group.   The ladies team consisted of Emily Zethraeus (1:12:40),  Eileen Shadford (1:16:43) and Anna Lyon (1:16:40).

Several Bentley runners gained PBs, despite the undulating course and wind. Martin Owen ran in 1:27:29, slashing a whopping 16 minutes off his previous PB at this distance. Marion Simmons, expertly paced round her first 10 miler by Vicky Presland, finished in a very pleasing 1:24:10. Also running their first 10 mile race were Miriam Mark, who took just 1:27:30 and Sue Thomas who had a great run in 1:40:00, gaining a club bronze standard. Other runners were Chris Warren 1:02:21 (pacer), Charlie Keitch 1:04:55(PB), Michael Simmons 1:06:44, Janine Simpson 1:21:07, Frank Gardiner1:21:00, Scott Young 1:23:26(PB), Mark Ross 1:15:32, Karen Skene 1:24:05, Ryan Bedingfield 1:23:28(PB), Benjamin Ficken 1:16:40 (pacer) and Ruth Metcalfe.
