Hello Bentley Babes,
I’m back from my jaunt to the states and also back to my duties of reporting on your excellent efforts in October! The cooler weather is here and cross country season has begun, but I will save all that for next month.
Laura Emms started off the month competing in her new favourite distance- the half marathon and achieving a great time. Vicky P also showed grit and determination at The Gauntlet, winning the women’s race and completing the gruelling course in just over 1 hour. The photo of the mud bath is excellent! It was also great to see three babes in action at the Harwich Discovery 10k– Lesley got yet another PB for the year and Davina and Lynsey A should also be proud of their performances.
On Sunday 13th, Eileen got her impressive PB, this time at The Tiptree 10 whilst Karen and Amanda had a good race at the Martlesham 10k, where Karen also achieved a PB.
The Wix 5 really was the cherry on the cake for the club and the ladies, with an impressive 35 runners participating and all showing real club spirit. It is impossible to mention you all but notable performances were Eileen, Vicky L Miriam, Stephanie, Lesley and Lynsey who all achieved PBs. I believe Fiona, Caroline and Sue M also got new standards. I would also like to mention Barbara who ran the course with Keith (a real tear jerker of a moment for me), and Anita who fulfilled her goal, completing her first big race since her fall. Well done to everyone!
The Great South 10 mile race on 27th October was a popular event with Janine pulling out another strong performance, closely followed by Lyn F. Olivia and Katie Stevens also looked like they enjoyed themselves at the mini run. Meanwhile, Ann Baxter and Julie Warren headed along the coast where they took part in the Beachy Head Marathon. It is good to see Bentley blue travelling around the country!
And so to the Runner of the Month, which after much cogitating and deliberating, I have decided to nominate ANITA RAFFERTY. She is an excellent club member who is always there to support, but mainly this month, who has overcome her fall and built up the confidence to come out training and do her best.
