Hello Bentley Babes!
Brrr! It’s feeling a bit cool out there again, and cross country season is looming. I’m sure all your fine performances over the summer, will stand us in good stead for this year’s series commencing on 3rd November. It would be great to see some new faces- it is fun, honest!
The headliner for this report is the Harwich 5k series with the last race taking place on Thursday 8th August. Lesley was a well-deserved winner of the series, and Rita, Lara, Davina, Vicky and Sandra also had good races, showing real improvement throughout. Maybe there will be a few more blue vests out next year?
A big sea of blue also turned out for the annual Mersea 5 and 10 mile races and there was yet more success as Laura, Eileen and Janine took home the ladies’ team prize in the 10 mile event. This was a pb for Eileen, back from injury, and also for Laura, her first 10 miler. It’s great to see her still running and performing well. Congratulations also go to Lesley and Sue who completed the course in pleasing times.
On a social matter, I have also been asked about organising the annual girly day out to Norwich (pre XC). Not Only will this be excellent and invaluable training for the series, but it is also an opportunity to shop, try out the cafes and also chat over a meal at The Library restaurant! I am proposing Saturday 9th November. If you are interested, please email me and I can look in to the train tickets and restaurant booking. (You may bring a friend!)
This has to be my shortest report ever, as the road racing season draws briefly to a close. I have not signed off yet, though, as there has to be a runner of the month and this time I’m awarding it to Lesley Fuller. This lady has been training hard. She always looks like she’s enjoying her running and is a positive member of the crowd. It is a real achievement to win a 5k series that comes with hard work and determination. Bravo, Lesley!
That’s all for now, folks. Keep on running!
Hopefully see you soon,
