Race Report- 23rd March-06th April
Easter Bunnies
Massive thanks to Scott Young and Claudia Keitch who resurrected and brought back a GBRC favourite…. The Easter Bunnies which was held at Gt Bromley Village Hall on Easter Monday. It was a fantastic turnout with amazing weather, and everyone had a great time.
We were paired up with one faster runner and another slower runner based on your predicted 5k times (and based on some of the dubious pairings I think perhaps a Race Adjudicator should be appointed next Year!!) The route was a mixture of trail, road and field made up of a 2-mile lap where you then ran 5 laps in your pairs, the faster runner completing 3 laps and the slower runner completing 2 laps although it was completely up to you and your partner how you ran it. Once completed it was then all back to the hall to enjoy a well-deserved bite to eat and a cuppa.
Congratulations to our winners:
Debs Hollidge – Rob Dyer
Andrew Lanmer – Lex Carlisle
Martin Cotton – Tom Komorowski
Meera Rajoo-Oakley – Rosie Young
Please note: No Bunnies were harmed before, during or after this event including the one that appears in the prize giving photos!!

Park Runs
Walton Promenade
Donna Parker- Evans and Lorraine Adams took on the relatively new Walton Promenade Parkrun.

Japan
Slightly further afield Tim Clifton ran the Futakotamagawa Parkrun in Japan. It was their seventh anniversary as it was the first ever Parkrun in Japan. According to Tim it was a very flat 3 loop course with an out and back. Perhaps this could be the next GBRC Parkrun tourism event!!

Basildon Parkrun
A small but perfectly formed group of Blues ventured to Basildon Parkrun for this month’s tourism event. The course is 3 laps consisting of tarmac, trail and a sneaky little slope which then takes you around woods and a lake. Well done all it looked like you had a great morning out.

Battersea Half Marathon- Sun 29th
Magdalena Komorowska and Paul Hughes were both back together in action again, this time at Battersea Half Marathon which is described as a scenic and energising route which offers a pancake flat route with well paved paths and beautiful scenic views. The race loops around the park which apparently gives you fantastic views of the River Thames.
Mags finished with a 2min 15s PB in 1:38:29 and Paul finished in 1:42:19. Well done guys fantastic running.

Station to Station- 18 miler
Now in its 5th year this event is organised by Harwich Runners and grows more popular every year. It is held in memory of a former lifeboatman John Teateredge and raises funds for the RNLI. The route covers over 18 miles starting at Walton Lifeboat Sation and following the coastline through the Tendring peninsula to finish at Harwich Lifeboat Station.
Larina Marsh and Helen Coe took part in this event both finishing in spectacular times and with huge smiles. Well, done ladies excellent running.

Easter Eggstravaganza-Essex Trail Events
Scott Young and Claudia Keitch took themselves off to Felsted for Day 2 of the Easter Eggstravaganza organised by the Essex Trail Event. They completed the 5.5 miles (ish!) course and finished in 54 mins which gave them 4th place overall. Well done to you both.

Brett Lydd (Kent)- 20 miler
This long established and highly coveted event takes place on a pancake flat course, using the wide quiet country lanes surrounding the marsh town of Lydd in Kent. It is the perfect opportunity to test your pace which is exactly what the lovely Lisa Briggs did by completing this race in an incredible 2:40:33 despite having never run that far before! Congratulations Lisa on an excellent run.

A special mention and congratulations to Dean Pepper who finished in 3rd place overall in the league of the Winter Series with his Orienteering Club. Well, done Dean!

This was a relatively quiet couple of weeks of races perhaps due to a number of marathons coming up which brings me to finish this report by wishing every single one of our Blues a massive Good Luck in Brighton, Manchester, London, or Milton Keynes and any other races all you incredible athletes are competing in. Have a great time!
