DING DONG THE PB BELL WILL RING!

There were very few events, and park runs held last weekend thanks to Storm Darragh with even XC cancelled on the Sunday, however this weekend we saw the following races:

Sat 14th December- Clacton Park Run.

Several GBRC runners took on the surprisingly gentle sea breeze but cold conditions along the sea front at Clacton on Saturday. Helen Coe, Nicky Steadman, Mark Crittenden and Emma Welham.

For those who don’t know I have recently joined the Core Team and become one of the Run Directors at Park Run and I will be there on New Years Day, so do come along and support my first Park Run as a new Run Director (I mean what could possibly go wrong!!) It is a great way to kick the New Year off, so I hope to see as many of you as possible.

Sat 14th December- Essex VETs XC Championship- Epping Forest.

Three very hardy runners Magdalena Komorowska, Eileen Shadford and Jonathan Briggs took on what has been described as ‘the mud glorious mud’ course at Epping Forest on Saturday. The course was 5 miles consisting of 2 laps of pure mud apparently and according to the pictures!

Eileen 50:41, Mags 43:26 and Jonathon 42:46. Well done guys.

Huge congratulations to Magdalena having been presented with her Gold Grand Prix Medal for V45 having completed all 6 races in the Essex Championship 2024. These races included Essex 20, Halstead Marathon, Great Easter 10k, Ingatestone 5, Pleshey Half, and Stebbing 10 miles.

Also well done and congratulations to Inga Hayden-Cooper who was awarded a bronze medal in her category V55

Sunday 15th December- ASICS London 10k

The lovely Andrea Markwick was in action in London today taking part in the ASICS London 10k and what a fantastic race she had achieving an amazing PB 55:50. The event started at Queen Elizabeth London Olympic Park and was a completely closed-road running event. There were over 60,000 entrants, but only 5,000 places available, which were free to the successful bidders, not only an amazing race to be part of, but you also get to run one lap of the actual Olympic track.  What an incredible event and one to add to your list for 2025 I think!

Congratulations on your PB Andrea and I have a feeling that there are many more of these to come next Year for you!

Sunday 15th December- Malaga Half and Full Marathon

These amazing Amigos travelled to warmer climates and ran the Malaga half and full marathon.

Half Marathon: Caroline Dyer- 1:55:35 and Sarah Davison 1:57:45. Well done ladies fantastic running.

Marathon:  Craig Slocombe 2:52:20, Paul Davison 3:10:43, Chris Smith 3:17:51, James Eyre 3:24:17 and Rob Dyer 3:28:47. Congratulations guys excellent running.

I had wanted to say more about this race regarding the route etc however it appears that my google does not translate from Spanish to English!!

What I do know is that it was a lot warmer over there than here!

This is the last report for 2024 so I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of our wonderful Race Reporters we would like to Wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Energetic 2025!
