The highlight of the weekend was Barbara’s 80th birthday trail run, an event that looks to have been enormous fun, judging by the photos and enthusiastic comments on Facebook. However, I regret to say that I was unable to track down the official results 😁. Happy birthday Barbara.

Elsewhere, there was a healthy blue turnout for (bear with me!):
“Confidence is a preference for the habitual runner
Of what is known as
Parkrun“
“And morning stupor can be avoided
If you take a route straight through what is known as
Parkrun“
GBRC had parkrunners at Boston, Colchester Castle, Bury St Edmunds, Raphael, Clacton Seafront, Bognor Regis, Mersea Island, Felixstowe, Highwoods and Markshall Estate.
Sarah Davison got in 15 mins of running at Boston Parkrun, after a six month period of no running following a knee surgery. Sarah said her body felt like she had ran a marathon. Good to see you back on the proverbial horse Sarah.

Dean Pepper ran the three lap course of Raphael parkrun in Romford. Whilst there he passed on the “Wandering 200 Sign” from the 200th event at Highwoods Parkrun last week. This went to Wardown Juniors who celebrate their own 200th event next week. Dean got himself a post lockdown PB of 22:47

Robbie Lee was also a bit further afield this week finishing Bognor Regis Parkrun in 22:47. Were you visiting Butlins perchance Robbie?

Even further afield, David Allen took ran 25km Qatar joining some of the Doha Bay Runners who were completing a 100km run for Autism.

Sunday also saw a multitude of events. First up a number of blues made their way to Boston Marathon (no, not that one) which is billed as the flattest marathon in the country.
Magdalena Komorowski bagged herself a marathon pb of five seconds finishing in 3:44:31. Mags was also fifth in her age category. Tomas Komorwoski crossed the line in 4:00.19.
Rob Dyer also hit a pb finishing in 3:22:10. Rob’s previous PB cam nine years and three months ago. Alo crossing the line were Doug Mcgillivray in 2:58:52, Paul Davison in 3:22:10 and Caroline Dyer in 4:37:55. An eight o’clock start combined with horizontal rain and strong winds added to the challenge.

David and Louise Balfour ran New Forest Garmin UK Trail 10k with their dogs, Barney and Willow. David finished a wet and muddy route in 52:55, but unfortunately Louise took a wrong turn and joined the half marathon route part way through the course. After a few bonus miles, she finished with a huge round of applause.

Scott Young and Claudia ran the in Search for Bluebells trail run on Sunday. Scott reported the route had been claimed as “firm underfoot”. This was not the case, but it was a lovely eight mile course and the promised bluebell were indeed found.

Finally, we had the Colchester Zoo Stampede 10k. No pictures were up at the time I posted this newsletter, but we had three blues representing. Jenny Harvey – 1:05:19, Simon Leggett – 40:51 and David Jones 1:00:49
Great running everyone and make sure to get those legs ready for the first Micky Edwards run on 1st May.
