Springing forward!

This weekend saw the clocks spring forward and one GBRC member spring up onto the top ten all time performance board, but more of that later.

Saturday morning for many of you was parkrun, we had some away trips to South Manchester and Liverpool plus some more local tourism with Hockley Woods and Thomas Mills having a visit from Bentley Blue runners. All results can be found here.

For Rob Dyer and Tomasz Komorowski, 3.1 miles was not enough for their Saturday run an they went over the border to Suffolk to take part in Norfolk and Suffolk LDWA Daffodil Dawdle – there was no dawdling from them though as they undertook a marathon distance in 4 hours 41 minutes. Caroline Dyer led home the 18 mile distance in a time of 3 hours 32 minutes, well done to you all.

Sunday saw the return of Dave Wright’s 7.5 and 15 mile run, which takes in one or two undulating laps around Langham and Boxted. Organised by Craig Mitchell, it is great addition to the local running calendar, adding in that elusive 15 mile distance, there are not many races around for club champs/standards at this distance.

We had a great turnout for both races, on a wet, wet morning. Congratulations go to Lisa Briggs for ‘springing’ into 4th place on the all time club top ten leaderboard, this being her first attempt at this distance, with a time of 1:57:21! Magdalena Komorowska and Charlie Keitch updated their top 10 performance times with PBs. Magdalena ran 1:57:35 and Charlie ran 1:38:47. Lisa’s time also bagged her third lady or the 15 mile race. Richard Heath finished in 1:43:02 whilst Gerry Gladden ran home in 1:59:16, Nicky Steadman 2:16:21 and Tim Clifton in 2:26:48.

In the 7.5 mile race, Joshua Beaumont ran home for second place with a time of 46:22. Meera Rajoo-Oakley was the 6th lady home with a time of 58:56. Bev Shortley ran in 1:07:08, Laura Cook ran in 1:15:16, closely followed by Louise Balfour in 1:15:23. Debbie Smith finished in 1:18:00, Bee Harris, 1:22:36 Michelle Auer in 1:25:43 and Alison Clarke in 1:25:44. Well done to you all!
