Farnborough half marathon, after hours trail runs and lots of parkruns
With no cross country and a gap in the racing calendar, it seems that GBRC weren’t left with many racing options this week. However, that just means the parkrun list is even busier than normal!
Chris Warren put in a great performance at the Farnborough half marathon, covering thirteen miles of ‘chilly not hilly’ miles. Starting off at -6 degrees is not to be sniffed at…though there is every chance that running in those conditions meant that Chris was indeed sniffing by the end! Finishing in under 90 minutes with a time of 1hr24, Chris can be very proud of his performance.
Now to parkrun.
Or rather…not parkrun. In the case of Parkrun Tourism thwarted by ice, the jolly down to South Woodham Ferrers for Leoni Harvey Mel Willsmore Natalie Martin Bev Shortley Laura Cook Paul Davison Sarah Davison and Bee Brent turned into an 5k unofficial run. Well done for persevering and not just skipping straight to the coffee and cake at the end!
Robbie Lee went to Basildon and did a James Bond by winning the 007 token.
Lisa Briggs, Paul Connell, Russell Clarke and Teresa Farmer all enjoyed running round the castle at Colchester Castle Park Parkrun.
Jonathan Mann, Magdalena and Tomasz Komorowska, Deborah and Paul Hollidge, and Larina Marsh all got muddy at Colchester Highwoods Parkrun.
Full parkrun results can be found online.
When the lights go out
An unusual (but understandable given the reduced daylight hours) the Lark in the Dark trail run in Purleigh gives runners the chance to run 5.2 miles off road after sunset.
Phil and Vicky Presland and Tricia Stacey finished in 54.09 bagging joint 10th place.
They were also joined by fellow blues, Scott Young and Claudia Keitch who finished in 1:00.20.
