The one where I almost had nothing to say

I approached the writing of this weeks race report with some trepidation, fearing that I’d be responsible for the worst race report ever written; one which wouldn’t contain a single race! A concern that wasn’t eased as I scoured the results from Essex trail events in the hope that some of our trail enthusiasts would have quietly snuck off for a country mile or 10. If you haven’t done one of their events – you should!

As I was giving up all semblance of hope, I saw that Grainne and her kids had been busy competing at the Lee Valley Velopark. Grainne took on the 10 mile race which consisted of 10 1 mile loops of the Moto GP styled circuit – doesn’t sound like the most thrilling of races but she didn’t let this stop her from bagging 5th place. She was supported by her 3 children who all also took on the 1 mile kids race.

Another ray of hope was Sue Wray who completed an incredible 30 miles at the Hare and Tortoise’s OutRun24. Nothing stops you ladies, including a lazy bank holiday weekend it seems.

There was parkrun and parkrun tourism. Full results can be found here – https://www.parkrun.com/results/consolidatedclub/?clubNum=1475

The Preslands’ and Hollidges’ took a trip to Norwich where they completed Colney Lane parkrun which was better than the course description led them to believe. Vicky finished in 25:21, Phil in 25:40 and Debs in 25:59 whilst Paul generously marshalled.

Caroline was also hot on the tourism trail completing Lymington Woodside parkrun in 30:13.

I challenge you all to do better next week and give Charlie plenty to write about. It really felt like pulling teeth to get a decent race report out of you this week!
