A quiet week at the races

Parkrun very much dominated an otherwise incredibly quiet weekend as far as running goes. It was cold, it was muddy but at least it was dry!

First to finish at Colchester Castle was Malcolm Jarvis in 21:54 followed by Matt Laverack earning himself a new PB with a time of 24:08 – well done Matt! Very possibly nursing a bit of a sore head was Chusa Batis, finishing in 25:02, followed by Russell Clarke in 25:40 and Anthea Colsell in 25:41. Lee Clarkson came home in 27:29 and Holly Colsell in 29:13 – another new PB, great running Holly!

Over at Bury St. Edmunds parkrun, Rob Blackman finished in 25:26

Off to the coast and at Clacton Seafront Jason Cook finished in 19:40, David Goldsmith in 20:50, Ray Baggs in 21:33 and Anna Lyon in 24:07, scoring herself a new PB – great work Anna! Brian Telford came home in 26:26 followed by Fiona Gosling 27:35, Stewart Baggs in 34:03 and David Nugent in 44:00.

A little further up the coast at Harwich parkrun, Kevin James was first blue home in 23:51 followed by Toni Wilson in 24:20 and Justine Sheekey in 26:50.

Mersea Island was busy celebrating its 150th parkrun with a superhero themed event. Stepping gallantly up to the mark were Robin Oakley and Meera Rajoo-Oakley who, dressed as Mr Incredible and Elastigirl finished in 21:30 and 23:33 respectively. Zoe Reynolds completed a Bentley trio with a time of 32:08.

Gloucester welcomed Christopher Warren for his first parkrun in the city. Christopher finished in 20:10.

Jason Bennett claimed a new PB over at Felixstowe parkrun with a time of 25:13. Well done Jason!

David Wright came home as first finisher at Highwoods parkrun with a time of 19:31 – great running David! Next across the line was Rob Ferguson in 21:52, followed by Danny Draper in 22:04 and Martin Steinwand in 22:52. Tom Komorowski finished in 26:02, James Royce 27:02 and Anna Mills in 27:13. Paul Hollidge finished in 29:02 followed by Debs (with a slightly reluctant Tilly!) in 30:37 and Sam Beardsell in 45:36.

On Sunday Angel Jasper knocked another 6 seconds off her PB to finish 7th at Colchester Junior parkrun in 8:33 – this places Angel 3rd overall all-time fastest in her age group – a massive well done to you Angel! Leni Laverack completed her 6th junior parkrun in 10:22 followed by Yasmin Leek in 15:23.

It was very much a case of keeping up with the Joneses who were out in force at Clacton junior parkrun! George finished in 18:01, Isabella in 18:02, Clara in 21:20 and Darcey in 21:42. Well done to you all!

Just over the border in Suffolk, Charlie Keitch ran the Hadleigh 10 in a very respectable 1:04:28, finishing in 23rd place, earning a nice bit of bling to boot! Well done Charlie!
