The final leg of the 53-12 cross country league took place on a bitterly cold and windy Sunday, with snow falling on the junior race. Juniors Harrison Leek, Milly Presland, Kaite Presland and Michael Oates ran their socks off, almost literally. The senior course was muddy and waterlogged, making the infamous hill even tougher than usual. First man home for Great Bentley was Chris Warren, in 14th position, followed by Russ Sharp in 19th. The rest of the scoring team consisted of Dave Goldsmith 29th, Ben Ficken 36th, Michael Simmons 44th, Rodger Alexander 57th and Scott Crawley 70th. The women’s team was Vicky Presland 10th, Sam Godden 16th, Tricia Stacey 37th and Lorna Sharp 47th. Other runners were Lex Carlisle, Sue Sorrell, Rachel Giles, Claire Reynolds, Claire Groves, Caroline Searle, Sue Thomas, Mark Ross, Shawn Leek, Paul Carlisle, Phil Presland, Mark Crittendon, Martin Owen, Jamie Neill, Malcolm Jarvis, Frank Gardiner, and Luke Groves. The club finishes the league in 5th place overall.
Charlie Keitch took to Hanley Parkrun on Saturday, near Stoke On Trent. Despite the wind and muddy conditions, he still managed to finish in 2nd place in 20:10.
At the Colchester Parkrun, Lee Clarkson finished in 23:58, Chusa Bautista Fructuoso 25:01, Scott Young 22:47, Claudia Keitch 26:47 and Paul Hollidge 22:13.
Linzi Iddon and John Bush ran the London Winter 10k on Sunday 1st February, Iddon finishing in a PB of 1:02:06, and Bush in 1:01:15, also a PB.
