Ladies team take the silver medal for Essex Championships.

The results of the Essex Roadrunning Championships have now been announced, and Great Bentley ladies team finished the series with a silver medal overall. Ladies captain Vicky Presland  also took the silver open  medal , plus gold in the FV35 age group. Eileen Shadford won bronze in the FV45 age group, and Barbara Law gold FV65.

The pre Christmas Colchester Parkrun, on 20th December saw Charlie Keitch finish in 19:24, Martin Owen 23:47, Scott Young 22:49, Paul Hollidge 22:19 and Malcolm Jarvis 21:52.

Debbie Cubberley turned out for the Christmas Day Parkrun and clocked 27:26. Claudia Keitch and Ade Cherry also competed, taking 25:06(PB) and 22:22(course PB) respectively.

Boxing Day saw Witham Running Club host it’s annual 5 mile race. Claire Groves and John Bush both ran strong races, setting new PBs in 44:39 and 48:44.

The post Christmas Parkruns had Blue Vests taking part in both Colchester and Kesgrave events. At Kesgrave, Charlie Keitch finished in 3rd place, taking just 19:03 to complete the course, followed by Scott Young in 23:09 and Claudia Keitch in 25:13. Colchester runners were Michael Belton 22:26, Malcolm Jarvis 21:50, Martin Owen 28:02 and Lynsey Apps 28:02.

The annual Runners vs Riders event at Friday woods also saw a good turnout of Great Bentley runners, who all enjoyed the mud and chance to work off their Christmas dinners. The Christmas week of running was nicely rounded off with the Fryers 16th Apple Trail run from Hull farm in Ardleigh, with a choice of 6 or 14 miles and apple crumble at the finish.
