At the Colchester Castle Parkrun on 23rd August Ben Ficken clocked up a new PB of 18 minutes and 35 seconds, while Malcolm Jarvis improved his parkrun time by 19 seconds, only 3 seconds off his 5k PB. Other Blue Vests were father and son Shawn and Harrison Leek 25:49 and 25:48 respectively, Sue Sorrell 27:04, Gary Hill 25:30 and Paul Hollidge 21:42.

Sunday 24th August saw the sun shine for the Mersea Island 5 and 10 mile races. First Bentley man home in the 5 mile event was Graham Clarke, 19th overall in 36:31. He was followed by Davina Swindell 40:27 and Karen Skene 40:39. In the 10 mile race Russ Sharp finished in 11th place, taking just 1:05:30 to complete the course. Mark Crittendon smashed his hoped-for time of 1:40, taking just 1:23:59, and Martin Owen improved his 2013 performance by 21 minutes, finishing in 1:23:45, a PB by 4 minutes. Other runners were Eileen Shadford 1:22:27, Frank Gardiner 1:28:37, Belinda Palmer-Barnes 1:44:46, Claire Groves 1:45:17 and Luke Groves 1:45:17.
