Hi ladies! This month’s is a short newsletter as Lisa and I have been dedicating time to Awards Night preparations and of course I am preparing for XC this Sunday. This should still cover all you need to know for the next month though.
So lets get to it…
NEWS AND NOTICES
NESS Cross Country – 10th December – GBRC host at Hilly Fields
I am not sure how any of you could have missed this one: this Sunday GBRC host the third NESS XC fixture. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help out; you will have seen the email with the marshal and job list: please check it before coming on Sunday.
I will be at Hilly Fields at 10:30 on Saturday 9th to do a leisurely lap of the course and point out the marshal points. If you want to see your place on the course do come along.
If you are are not marshalling, I hope you plan to run! We want as many ladies out there running as possible. So get that blue vest out and I’ll see you on the start line!
Awards Night – 16th December
Voting has now closed, club champs have finished and the committee is preparing for a fabulous night to celebrate achievements of the past year.
If you are reading this before Sunday 10th, there is still time to tell us that you are coming using this Google form (https://forms.gle/VuxWKibLpsywNLGD8). Remember the event is not catered this year so if you want food / snacks, please bring this along. Drinks are also bring your own.
For the post awards night run and breakfast: the Sunday run will be from the Great Bentley village hall. After the run, breakfast will be available in the hall, so if you are coming, it is extra important you tell us so that we know how many sausages to buy!
Fish and Chips Run – 20th December
Wednesday 20th December is the traditional Fish and Chips run. Please contact Marion if you would like to join and she will be able to share the menu and hopefully add your order in. Do this soon though!
10 Mile Race – 7th January
We will be having our annual competition against Harwich on January 7th. Please do come and run if you can, every runner counts towards the score and we want to make sure we retain our trophy!
If you don’t fancy running, we will also need marshals so look out for an email asking for volunteers in the next few weeks.
The run goes from Great Bromley village hall and is a fast course by all accounts.
Essex Champs Cross Country – 6th January
This is your first notification of this event and I will be emailing with more information and to collect names next week. The races will once again be held at Basildon although there is a new course this year. For those that love XC this is an opportunity to try a different course and I would encourage everyone who wants to, to come and have a go. Having said that, the organisers have asked that we emphasize that the course is relatively short laps and if you don’t like being lapped by faster runners, this might not be one for you.
Look out for my email in due course.
GBRC Half Marathon – Sunday 4th February
Our half marathon is key to the club and so please do try to help out if you can. We will need an army of volunteers to make the race as good as it can be so please contact Mel Wilsmore if you are able to give your time.
WHAT WE DID
November was a relatively quiet month for racing, however you still managed to find 5 milers, 10 milers, cross country, parkruns all over and trail runs.
I believe there were a few PBs at Wix: so well done to those ladies!
And I think there were some challenging hills being taken on, so kudos to the ladies that pushed themselves up those.
It is always a pleasure seeing what you have all been up to, so do share achievements on Facebook as well as thoughts on races (nice, horrid, well organised, hilly) as these are always helpful for others.
Runner of the month
This month our ROM is a lady who has been a scorer at cross country, has come 3rd in her age category at the Stowmarket Scenic 7 and was fourth in her category at the Hadleigh 10 miler. Quite a good month we reckon!
A very well done to Kathy Bishop!
