If it’s not hilly, it’s undulating

It was the second XC fixture of the NESS Cross Country League on 26 November and the club saw some fantastic performances, with Josh Beaumont (5th) and Doug McGillivray (8th) both finishing in the Top 10 of the men’s race and Lisa Briggs crossing the line in 12th place overall in the women’s race.  As always, the course around the grounds of Gosfield School was tough and undulating, taking in parts of Gosfield’s motorcycle scramble course and the surrounding woods.

Our other male scorers were:

  • Mark Jasper
  • Chris Warren
  • Charlie Keitch
  • David Wright
  • Craig Mitchell
  • Peter Pearce

and our other female scorers were:

  • Magdalena Komorowska
  • Tricia Stacey
  • Kathy Bishop

However, once again, every single finisher deserved their finishers medal cake at the end, with the club finishing the day in 5th place overall in Pool A.

The week before, on Sunday 19 November, Magdalena Komorowska got in some XC practice at the Dunton Demon, a ‘brutal and hilly’ race around Langdon Nature Discovery Park in Braintree. Mags put in a fantastic performance to finish 5th lady and 30th overall in a time of 43:12.

Also in action that day was Stephen Bullen, who took on the Hadleigh 10, another hilly course taking in the Suffolk countryside through Layham and Shelley. Despite the blustery conditions, Stephen completed the course in chip time at 1.07.39 to earn himself a new PB.
