Fun in the sun!

Sorry this is so late, one of the downsides of being a teacher is that in August you forget what day of the week it is!

Last Sunday saw the Clacton half marathon and 10km take place. Gerry Gladden ran the half in 1:37:49 along with Malcolm Statham 1:42:49; Dan Palmer 1:55:54 (PB); Scott Brian 2:03:09 and Stephen Cartwright in 2:55:48. Gavin Byrne ran the 10km in 42:43 along with Chris Smith 44:31; Ray Baggs 46:02; Darren David 53:37; Katie Siggery 55:38; Paul Hughes 58:15; Emma Wright 59:16; Laura Cook 59:56; Dave Jones 1:06:06 and Frank Gardiner 1:11:21.

Also taking place on Sunday was the Essex Trail Events ‘Admiral McHilly’ 14 mile trail run. The Preslands, Hollidges and Adam Waller-Toyne ran this undulating route around Chelmsford out to Danbury Hill and back, all back at the Cricket Club in time for the second half of the football.

Parkrun on Saturday saw over 40 of you at start lines around the county and indeed country. Charlie Keitch ventured to Ferry Meadows, Peterborough enroute up north, whilst Alan Johnson was at Holkham parkrun and Harry Swinbourne and Craig Mitchell represented the Bentley Blues and braved the windy weather in Dongellau, Wales. Lisa Briggs took first lady at Highwoods. Great Yarmouth parkrun is run on sand and a few Bentley runners took it on this weekend. All results can be found here. If you are a parkrunner and new to the club, make sure you add Great Bentley as your running club and your achievements can be given a mention in the race reports.
