Wednesday 14th June – 3rd handicap
We had 29 runners taking part in the 3rd handicap race on the 14th June. It was a hot day so not ideal for running 5k. At least we had a bit of a fresh breeze as it is usually the case on quiet Great Bentley lanes.
Despite “scorchio” conditions we were very positively surprised at the finish line as more than a half of the field improved their times. Well done all – fantastic running, and hats off to anyone who attempted the 5k run in such a hot weather.
Top 3 most improved runners are: David Nugent, Alan Johnson, and Bee Harris
Top 3 fastest male times: Doug McGillivray (17:14), Mark Jasper (17:46), Chris Warren (18:53)
Top 3 fastest female times: Lisa Briggs (20:29), Anthea Colsell (24:44) and Anna Lyon (26:06)
After three handicaps Stewart Baggs is leading with 292 points followed by Anthea Colsell (278) and Stephen Walsh (278) in joint second position.
Only one more handicap to go. It would be great to see many runners taking part in the last race of the series. Hopefully it will be a bit cooler then.

Small print:
These races are for any Great Bentley Club members. The more the merrier. It’s a great chance to test yourself on the flat course or catch up with your fellow runners post-race.
These races are not possible without marshals.
