This week’s report sees out the last of three May bank holidays and many of you enjoyed a sunny weekend in the Lake District. More than 25 Bentley Blues ran the Rothay Park parkrun in Ambleside, making it almost a GBRC takeover. Well done to the Arnolds who each got a course pb.

There were more tourism runs this weekend. Mel Willsmore ran at Leavesden Country parkrun near Harry Potter Studios; Patrick Auer ran Hafan Pwllheli parkrun, a course in North Wales ran entirely on sand; Richard Moor ran New Earswick in York; Matthew Grant ran Orpington parkrun in Kent whilst the Sharp brothers ran Medina IOW parkrun. There were plenty of regular parkruns visited too and all results can be found here. Well done to Xander Briggs for completing his 20th junior parkrun with a PB of 13:33 and bagging his Run:One medal! A quick mention to Robbie Lee who completed the Groundhog Day section of the parkrun app – same time, same parkrun two weeks in a row. For anyone who does parkrun, the parkrunner app adds an extra element to your parkruns with things to tick off by attending different courses. I found out about it after meeting people dressed as pirates doing the ‘seven C’s and an R!

This Friday saw the return of the Summer Friday 5 mile series. The first one is hosted by Felixstowe Runners and takes place in Kirton. Craig Slocombe ran a PB of 29:50. Jon Mann ran 31:42; Jonathan Briggs 36:41; Sarah Davison 39:15; Caroline Dyer 41:04; Mark Harris 45:19; Donna Harris 46:13; Laura Cook 46:21; Martin West 52:02 and Frank Gardiner 52:12.
Saturday saw four Bentley Blues join the start line of the 50th LDWA annual 100 mile challenge, taking place this time in the Midlands. It was named the Elephant, Bear and Bull 100 after the traditional symbols of Coventry, Warwickshire and Birmingham, through which the route passes. Rob Dyer completed just over 102km of the course, getting to the start line after recent illness. Tomasz Komorowski and Paul Davison finished at 4:43pm on the Sunday, just under 31 hours later. Fiona Gosling finished on Monday morning. A great achievement for you all.
Paul Brazier ran the Fox Trail Half Marathon, a RunThrough event held near Guildford. He did it in 2:08:09 after suffering illness during the race. On Bank Holiday Monday, we had one runner down as running the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k race, well done Zoe Willis for completing it in 58:41.
