This week saw our thermometers dip below zero, but that didn’t stop our GBRC runners trying to get their toes to match their t-shirts at a variety of races and parkruns.
Races
Beginning with the bling, many shiny baubles were collected by a number of blue runners.
Clearly preparing to be back up for Father Christmas, John Booty took part in the British BSSF – British Sleddog Sports Federation Championship series in Thetford.
It was a combined time 5.2k course Sat and Sun, and he says there were some serious runners at the event. John and Khan managed a 39:58 combined – congratulations! The winning masters 50 completed it in 30.04, which works out as two sub 15 min 5ks! A very impressive time and tough field.

Bee Brent nabbed herself more than just a medal at the Southend-On-Sea Rudolph Run that awarded finishers with mince pies. Bee has been consistent and relentlessly determined in her training since her injury and it’s all paying off! Well done.
For those who like your races to include a little drinking, Adam Robey’s found the event for you. He came 1st in the 5 mile distance at the Winter Wobble.
And for those who want less alcohol and more time on the trail, Zig Zag running put on their 50th live event ‘‘Twas the run before Christmas’. Sarah Davison with Caroline and Rob Dyer completed 6 laps, and Paul Davison went for the full marathon. Excellent running!
Now to parkrun.
27 Great Bentley Runners (with Great Bentley added to their Parkrun profile!) turned up for the weekly 5k.
Special mention to Martin Owen for his 150th. He chose to return to Colchester Castle, and was very pleased with his time of 24:44.
Magdelena Komorowska was First Lady at Highwoods, and Mark Jasper was second man at Clacton Sea Front. Well done both.
Tomaz Komorowska also deserves a special mention for clocking in his 50th volunteering credit this week. Volunteering at parkrun is what keeps it going – a good reminder to us all to sign up and give back to the event.
All in all – a great week of running! Well done, everyone!
